What a Thanksgiving weekend for the Washington Commanders.

Between the Commanders notching another win in the final minute of regulation against the playoff-hopeful Falcons, the Cowboys beating the Giants, and the Raiders scoring a walk-off touchdown against the then Wild Card-holder Seahawks, it was a perfect weekend for the Washington faithful.

The Commanders are 6-1 in their last seven games, and have taken care of business against teams they should beat, including the Bears, Packers, Colts, Texans and Falcons. While not a robust resume, it’s the resume of a playoff team.

Currently the No. 7 seed in the NFC, Washington’s playoff chances could be determined by the next three weeks. During that span, they’ll face the Giants twice with their delayed bye week sprinkled in between in Week 14.

The first of these colossal matchups will take place in East Rutherford. With the longtime rivals heading in opposite directions, let’s take a look at the early odds for this must-see game. Afterwards, we’ll make a prediction.

Commanders vs Giants Odds for Week 13

For the third week in a row, Washington opens as a favorite. Per Fan Duel’s early betting odds, the Commanders are -1.5 favorites in New York. They’re odds to win outright on the moneyline are currently -126. The Giants, meanwhile, are -106 to cover the line and +108 (bet $100 to win $108) to hold serve at home.

The over/under for Sunday sits at 40.5 points. Not a surprise given these aren’t juggernaut offenses. Both sides have -110 odds

Commanders vs Giants Prediction for Week 13

Winners of three in a row and six of their last seven, Washington is the hottest team in the league. The G-Men, on the other hand, have lost two in a row following a 6-1 start, including three of their last four. Two of those losses came against playoff teams in Dallas and Seattle, but the home loss to Detroit sticks out like a sore thumb.

Having said that, the Giants are getting the calvary back this week, as several players are eligible to return from injured reserve. That list doesn’t include first-round right tackle Evan Neal and promising rookie tight end Daniel Bellinger, who were dealing with their own short-term injuries.

Despite being depleted in recent weeks, New York gave the Cowboys a scare on Thanksgiving before Dallas pulled away in the second half. If it sounds like we’re leaning picking the Giants this week, you’d be correct. That’s not to say we think they’re the better team, but there’s a reason this is essentially a pick ’em.

This game could be a case of whomever has the ball last, wins. Look for the Giants to take a late lead and Heinicke to come up short in trying to lead the Commanders to another last-minute victory. Hope we’re wrong, but …

Giants 20, Commanders 17.
