The Good: Commanders Run The Ball Down Eagles’ Throat

57: The Commanders went 12-for-21 on third-down conversions (57%) in the game after coming in ranked 26th in the league. Over the last two games, Washington had only converted five times on third down on 22 attempts.

17:38: Washington finished the first half with a 17:38 time of possession margin, which was the most lopsided for the Eagles since Week 6 in the 2001 season. It was also the highest first-half time of possession margin in Washington franchise history.

Throughout the game, the Commanders ran 34 more plays than the Eagles.

49: The Eagles allowed 142.5 rushing yards per game over their last four contests, and Washington’s coaches took advantage of that, finishing with 152 yards on the ground.

The team ran 49 times, which was the most attempts since 2008. Both Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson punched it in on the ground. Robinson could not be stopped on his touchdown run as he kept moving his feet to get the ball past the endzone.

0: Philadelphia had never been shut out in the second quarter until Monday’s game against Washington, with the Commanders taking a 20-14 lead into halftime. It was the first time the Eagles had trailed going into halftime all season.

58: Joey Slye was clutch, hitting a 58-yarder to end the first half with the Commanders up 20-14. The field goal was Slye’s career-long and the longest-made field goal for Washington in 11 years.

128: McLaurin continued to run circles around the Eagles’ defense, finishing with eight receptions for 128 yards. In Week 3 against the Eagles, McLaurin finished with 102 yards. He is the only receiver to have over 80 yards receiving against Philadelphia this season…and he has done it TWICE.

2: Ron Rivera becomes the second coach in the Super Bowl era to beat two 8-0 or better teams and the first to do it with both wins coming on the road. Ironically enough, the last time was also in Pennsylvania on Monday night as a double-digit underdog, when Alex Smith led Washington over the 11-0 Steelers.

4: The Eagles came in with only three turnovers in the entire season and exited Monday night with four turnovers in the game. Darrick Forest, who continues to have an amazing season for Washington, finished with an interception (only Jalen Hurts’ third of the season) and a fumble recovery.

He has two forced fumbles, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery so far in the season.
