3 most important games remaining on Commanders’ 2022 schedule
By Jerry Trotta
1. Week 18 vs Dallas Cowboys
Unfortunately for the Commanders, the Eagles look like they’re running away with the division this year so the Cowboys will have something to play for in Week 18. Right now, the Giants hold the No. 5 seed over the Cowboys, but it’s Dallas who owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over New York.
Assuming Washington is still vying for a playoff berth in the season finale, this is the undisputed most important game left on the schedule. That’s a scary thought because the Commanders couldn’t even overcome the Cooper Rush-led Cowboys in Week 4 and Dak Prescott is back healthy and firing on all cylinders.
In case you needed a reminder, Prescott is 9-1 against Washington in his career. While he’s struggled against playoff contenders, Prescott’s domination of the NFC East, and the Commanders, is well-documented and could spell trouble for Ron Rivera’s group if their playoff fate hinges on this matchup.
The Commanders moved the ball well vs the Cowboys earlier this season, and they still lost by two touchdowns. That alone underlines the discrepancy between these teams. If Washington needs a win to make the playoffs, they’ll need to beat arguably a top-five team in the league to close their season.
At least it’ll be at home.
