The Washington Commanders pulled off the upset of the 2022 NFL season by defeating the Philadelphia Eagles on the road Monday night.

There would’ve been no shame in losing to a buzzsaw in the Eagles, but the Commanders executed their game plan to perfection and are now just a half-game out of the final Wild Card spot in the NFC.

Another positive? Washington is through the gauntlet portion of its schedule and has three winnable games against the Texans, Falcons and Giants before their bye in Week 14. Unlike the players and coaches, we can afford to look ahead on the schedule, so let’s underline the most important games left in 2022.

3. Week 13 at New York Giants

The Giants are one of several teams gunning for a Wild Card berth. Incredibly, the Commanders will lock horns with New York twice in a three-game stretch: Week 13 in East Rutherford and Week 15 in North Englewood. Sprinkled in between those matchups is Washington’s bye in Week 14.

Both games are huge, but the importance of going into the bye in good spirits cannot be understated. After all, Week 13 comes after a promising two-game stretch against the Falcons and Texans. If the Commanders win those matchups and beat the Giants, you’re talking about a 7-6 team heading into the bye.

New York has a favorable second half schedule. It would almost be disappointing if they didn’t finish with at least 10 wins. If the Commanders can steal Week 13 in New York, they’ll have an opportunity to complete the sweep at home after the bye with dates against the 49ers, Browns and Cowboys to close the season.

Might some of those final three games appear in this article?
