2. Matthew Stafford

It’s a good thing the Rams won the Super bowl last year, because they’re currently on the outside looking in as far as the NFC playoff picture. A big reason for that is Stafford, who’s seemingly feeling the effects of his “minor” offseason elbow procedure, because he looks like a shell of his 2021 self thus far in 2022.

Week 8 was no different, as the Rams got trounced by the 49ers to drop to 3-4. Stafford had an awesome rushing touchdown early, but was largely ineffective through the air, completing 22-of-33 passes for just 187 yards and one touchdown. He averaged less than 6.0 yards per attempt and was shutout after halftime.

After Stafford’s second quarter TD throw, San Francisco scored 24 unanswered points en route to a 31-14 win. That doesn’t happen often in the NFL, especially for road teams, but less than 200 yards passing and four consecutive punts in the second half are certainly recipes for that.

It’s not even a question, folks. Heinicke’s 279-yard performance and game-winning drive was markedly better than Stafford’s (latest) dud.
