1. William Jackson III
No surprises here.
The Jackson saga took a surprise twist last week. On the same day Jim Irsay came out publicly against Dan Snyder, Jackson walked back his so-called trade request. Days earlier, NFL Network reported Jackson preferred a move away from Washington to a man-oriented scheme.
"“I never said that,” Jackson said Tuesday of wanting a fresh start. “I never said, ‘I want out.’ I love my teammates, I love being around the guys. People are going to write what they want to write. I just sit back and do my job.”"
The Commanders are working hard to find a resolution. Ideally, they’d trade Jackson and salvage $10.812 million against the cap, but his back injury, which has kept him out of three games now, might complicate matters. While Jackson is reportedly gauging interest around the league, a potential IR stint could derail any chance Washington has at trading him.
Assuming this relationship will end come the offseason, it makes sense from a financial, personnel and team performance standpoint (Jackson’s been more of a hindrance than productive player) to try and find a buyer for the 29-year-old.
