Round Five

  • Lance Boykin, Cornerback, Coastal Carolina

Solid players can be found in many of the “group of five” and smaller college programs like Coastal Carolina.  Lance Boykin is a talented corner and could get his start as a reliable backup on the outside, on the perimeter, or as a slot.

Having a versatile and dependable backup cornerback is a huge plus for any defense in the league today.  Boykin could climb in stature as a prospect, but this is where he ranks for now.

Round Six

  • Ricky Stromberg, Center, Arkansas

Having quality depth at center now seems obvious after Chase Roullier went down with another injury last week.  Stromberg started his Razorbacks career as a guard, but moved to center in 2020 and has become a solid starter.

  • Jermayne Lole, Defensive Tackle, Louisville

Jermayne Lole was injured for most of 2021, but he is a better than average defensive tackle.  Formerly of Arizona State, Lole will need to have a good 2022 if he hopes to have his draft stock increase.  The potential is there, but will he stay another year with the Cardinals?

Round Seven

  • Brennan Armstrong, Quarterback, Virginia

Having an extra arm in camp is never a bad idea.  Armstrong is an interesting prospect that could have some good upside.  He has also been the beneficiary of a quarterback-friendly scheme for the Cavaliers.

Commanders 2023 NFL Draft Thoughts

There is your first in-season mock for 2023.  We will be bringing you mocks every two weeks during the season.

This new feature will constantly change for many reasons, including the usual (expected) roster turnover, injuries, retirements, and performance.

If you have any players for yours truly to scout and possibly mock, please list them in the comments below.  The database on this computer contains approximately 250 prospects now, but that will change drastically in the coming months.  350 is the typical number by late winter.

Mock drafts in the winter and spring will look far different than what we see this fall.  Pull those belts tight.  This journey is just getting started.  The 2023 Mock Draft 2.0 will be here in a couple of weeks.  See you as we go along.
