Round Three

  • Carter Warren, Offensive Tackle, Pittsburgh

Charles Leno and Sam Cosmi are firmly entrenched at the tackle positions, but it never hurts to have a talented swing tackle on the roster.  Cornelius Lucas is not getting any younger and you can never have enough depth on the offensive line.

Warren is a solid left tackle for the Panthers and provides superior pass protection, but he needs some refinement with his skillset as a rushing blocker.  He could become a starter within a year or two.

Round Three (Compensatory Pick)

  • JL Skinner, Free Safety, Boise State

JL Skinner can play the safety positions and Buffalo nickel, but his best positions are playing deep in a single high safety role and double high coverages as a split safety.  At 6-4 and blessed with solid speed, he can cover taller receivers on deeper patterns.

A tall free safety has been a trend in recent seasons and the Commanders surely have such needs.  Skinner would be a perfect complement to Kamren Curl and Darrick Forrest.

Round Four

  • Camerun Peoples, Running Back, Appalachian State

Appalachian State is currently the darling of college football pundits and media, but they are a legitimately good program.  Camerun Peoples is one of the better running backs in the nation.  You can make an honest argument that Peoples is already better than Jonathan Williams.

Antonio Gibson can continue his transition to a receiving running back and Peoples cab be that bruising relief back.
