The Washington Commanders have zapped all of their post-Week 1 momentum. While the NFL season is short relative to the other major sports, it’s not often an outlook for a team does a complete 180 in a two-week span. Of course, that’ll happen when you get blown out in back-to-back games.

The second of those came Sunday … at home … against the Eagles. It was rivalry week for Washington and they still didn’t show up. Philly is good, they might even be great, but to get your doors blown off at home? That’s pathetic.

But enough about this game. Let’s dive into the post-Week 3 NFC East power rankings. Judging by our optimistic tone, you can probably guess where the Commanders rank. For a quick reminder, here’s how the rankings looked last week: Eagles (1), Giants (2), Commanders (3), Cowboys (4). Were there any changes?

4. Washington Commanders

The Commanders don’t have the worst roster in the division, but they deserve to sit in the basement of the power rankings after three games.

Their Week 1 win over Jacksonville is a distant memory, as they’ve since turned in consecutive dismal performances. In the first half of those games, Washington was outscored a combined 46-0. How is that even possible?

We’ll tell you how. The same things continue to plague Ron Rivera’s group, including slow starts, poor offensive line play, though some sacks have been on Carson Wentz, and surrendering big plays. In three games, the Commanders’ defense has allowed seven plays of 40 or more yards.

Until we see a noticeable change in week-to-week performance, Washington will continue to round out the NFC East power rankings. There’s just no sugarcoating the fact they’ve played as bad as any team in the NFL the last two weeks.
