The Washington Commanders will kick off the season opener at home this Sunday and the seventeen game schedule is full of challenges.

In July, the Burgundy and Gold celebrated ninety years of existence and another season on the gridiron is about to begin.  The Washington Commanders of 2022 look to build on two consecutive seven-win seasons and push for a division title and/or a playoff berth.  Many changes during the offseason have given the fans plenty of hope, but some of that optimism is understandably guarded.

Today, we will take a look at the full slate of seventeen games and give you predictions for each contest.  Please keep in mind that the weekly updates from yours truly may stray from what we see today.  The weekly analysis of each game from the previous week will include a prediction for the next game.  The format will be similar to last year.

Today’s predictions will be a quick snapshot of each game.  Will we see a winning from the Washington Commanders in 2022?  Can they win the NFC East title?  Can the Burgundy and Gold make a deep playoff run?  Let’s get right to it.

Commanders game-by-game predictions for the 2022 season

Game 1 – Jacksonville at Commanders

The Washington Commanders 2022 season opener will be hotly contested.  Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence should have a solid season, but Carson Wentz is the one who will shine with three touchdown passes on Sunday.

The Lions are improved and a bandwagon is forming.  The first road game is very close, but a late Antonio Gibson touchdown gives the visitors an early season victory.

Game 3 – Philadelphia at Commanders (2-0)

Starting the season at 2-0 is not enough of a momentum-builder for the home team.  Philly’s depth is just too much to overcome.

Game 4 – Washington (2-1) at Dallas

The Commanders put forth their first poor game of the season as Dallas romps.
