The potential of the Washington Commanders‘ offense is the highest it’s been in several seasons following the trade for Carson Wentz and selections of Jahan Dotson, Brian Robinson Jr. and Cole Turner, each of whom could start Week 1.

While Dotson, Robinson and Turner are nice complementary pieces who could develop into cornerstones, the offense starts and ends with Terry McLaurin. He’s the group’s most talented and, therefore, most indispensable weapon.

Finally equipped with a legit quarterback, Commanders fans are bullish on McLaurin’s outlook for 2022. The general consensus is this will be his best season from a production standpoint, and I echo that sentiment, so much so that I took the liberty of dubbing three bold predictions for everyone’s favorite receiver.

3. McLaurin makes first Pro Bowl

This might not seem bold, because McLaurin is undoubtedly a Pro Bowl talent, but think about how many receivers he’s contending with in the NFC.

Between Cooper Kupp, Justin Jefferson, Deebo Samuel, DK Metcalf, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Michael Thomas, DJ Moore, CeeDee Lamb and AJ Brown (catches breath), you’re talking 10 candidates not even including McLaurin. And Darnell Mooney or Amon-Ra St. Brown could push for a nod given their expected monster target share.

In 2021, five receivers made the Pro Bowl, including Kupp, Davante Adams, Jefferson, Samuel and Evans. In other words, McLaurin is a long shot to make the Pro Bowl, so this prediction is more bold than you think. It’s pretty unfair when you think about it, because the AFC can’t hold a candle to the NFC as far as receiver talent.

With that said, we know better than to doubt Terry. It won’t be easy, but no Commanders fan would be surprised if we fast forwarded to January and McLaurin was a lock to make his first Pro Bowl. Like Jonathan Allen, McLaurin is a player who’s only going to get better after signing a life-changing extension.
