2. Curtis Hodges, TE

Unlike the No. 1 player on this list, Hodges’ inclusion has nothing to do with his training camp and preseason performance. The undrafted free agent out of Arizona State made the most of his opportunities while Logan Thomas, Cole Turner and John Bates were banged up and made the roster as a result.

That shouldn’t be held against him.

However, if there was some clarity regarding Thomas, Turner and Bates’ status for the season-opener, odds are Hodges, who’s dealing with his own injury and didn’t practice Monday, wouldn’t have made the cut, no pun intended.

Hodges’ only preseason action came in Week 1 against the Panthers, when he hauled in three catches for 11 yards on five targets. Not a poor debut by any stretch of the imagination and he added a 72.5 pass-blocking grade to boot.

Hodges might be a candidate for injured reserve, or he could just as easily be active for Week 1 if one of Thomas, Turner and Bates are unable to go. Whatever happens, it’s unlikely he stays on the active roster for very long with the top three TEs back at practice and Armani Rogers ahead of him on the depth chart.
