2. Kendall Fuller

Fuller has without question been the Commanders’ top performer this offseason. He’s been a living nightmare for Carson Wentz, whom he’s intercepted multiple times since the start of camp, and has even made life difficult for Terry McLaurin and we all know that’s a rarity for cornerbacks when matched up against No. 17.

After moving from the slot to the outside last year Fuller was one of the most dominant CBs in the league. He only managed one interception, but his 16 passes defended trailed JC Jackson, Trevon Diggs, Marshon Lattimore, Anthony Brown and James Bradberry for the league lead.

Fuller’s career high for interceptions sits at four and his performance at camp suggests he’s a safe bet to shatter that in 2022. Defensive linemen don’t really get the chance to pop at camp, but it speaks volumes to Fuller’s confidence level that he’s setting the tone for the defense day in and day out.

1. Darrick Forrest

While Fuller is the Commanders’ top performer at camp, no player has improved their stock more than Forrest and his emergence — along with rookie Percy Butler — has quelled concerns about the team’s supposed thin safety room.

A hamstring injury suffered during the preseason derailed Forrest’s rookie campaign. By the time he made it back, Washington’s defensive rotation was already established and he was restricted to special teams (he played 26 defensive snaps compared to 169 or 82 percent on special teams).

Following a disappointing year, Forrest is clearly playing with a chip on his shoulder and his physicality and aggressiveness have stood out.

Kam Curl and Bobby McCain are the clear starters at safety, but Forrest has made it impossible for the coaching staff to not give him a role, perhaps as a hybrid who splits time at safety and the Buffalo nickel role when needed.

Honorable mentions: Kam Curl, Jahan Dotson, Percy Butler, Cole Turner
