1. Carson Wentz

Before you freak out, this isn’t an indictment on Wentz. We still endorse the trade and believe he’ll provide a solid return relative to what the Commanders gave up to acquire him. But that doesn’t mean we’ll turn a blind eye to a poor run of form and right now Wentz is struggling with his accuracy at training camp.

Rivera believes Wentz’s inaccuracy can be attributed to learning the playbook, timing and protection (or lack thereof), but does that really excuse the 29-year-old from not giving his receivers a chance on some throws?

At the team’s Saturday practice at FedEx Field, Wentz started 3-of-10 in the first stretch before finishing strong (6-of-10) in the second stretch. It was another up and down showing for Wentz, who admittedly made some jaw-dropping throws, but finished the night an uninspiring 9-of-20 during 7-on-7s and 11-on-11s.

Perhaps Wentz had a case of the jitters in his first practice in front of fans, but the accuracy narrative has been a thing since the start of camp. It’s just a little concerning when you read he’s bouncing passes in the dirt, air-mailing throws and hitting the back of jerseys and isn’t making consistent progress.

Might not be a bad idea to get the quarterback some decent playing time in the preseason to shake off the rust, because it’s still lingering.
