The Washington Commanders are now two weeks into training camp. In other words, their first preseason game is right around the corner so fans will get to see second- and third-stringers put to the test in a game setting.

Like every other team, the Commanders have players who have both impressed and underwhelmed during camp thus far.

For this article, though, we’re going to focus on the latter category; more specifically, players who are trending down over the first 10-plus practices of training camp. Plenty can change between now and the end of camp and preseason, but these Commanders haven’t covered themselves in glory in Ashburn.

3. Dyami Brown

This one’s tough because Brown was one of our pleasant surprises following the first week of practice. The 2021 third-round pick still owns the best catch of camp when he went up and over Kendall Fuller, who’s had receivers on an island all offseason, on a deep ball from Carson Wentz that got the sideline amped.

Since then, however, it’s been tough sledding for Brown, who’s been sidelined with an apparent leg injury for the last several practices. The injury stunted all the momentum Brown generated in the first week of camp and has allowed both Marken Michel and Dax Milne to impress with their extra reps in his absence.

That’s not to imply Brown’s roster spot is in danger, but the second-year receiver needs to get back on the field in a timely manner. The Commanders’ first preseason game is just days away and Brown will likely see significant playing time assuming the starters are rested.

At 6-foot and 195 pounds, Brown is similarly built to Washington’s top three wideouts, including Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel and Jahan Dotson. With the 6-foot-5 Cam Sims overcoming a sluggish start to camp, Brown runs the risk of falling to fifth on the depth chart if this injury keeps him out much longer.
