Yes, the Washington Commanders have had very little success against the Dallas Cowboys over the years. We acknowledge that. That doesn’t prohibit us from shedding a little light on a longtime rival’s weaknesses, however.

Sorry, we just don’t want sensitive Cowboys fans thinking we’re tone deaf and don’t realize the rivalry has largely been one-sided for a while.

It’s unclear if that will change in 2022, but the Commanders are well-equipped to put up a better fight against Dak Prescott and Co, who are coming off an absolute laugher of an offseason that included trading Amari Cooper and getting left at the altar by Randy Gregory after botching his contract terms.

Speaking of the Cooper trade, it’s looking like Dallas is regretting offloading Prescott’s former favorite target. While the club re-signed Michael Gallup in free agency, he’s recovering from ACL surgery (like Chase Young) and is expected to miss the start of the regular season, putting more onus on CeeDee Lamb to step up.

In more good news for the Commanders, James Washington suffered a fractured right foot in Monday’s practice and is expected to miss 6-10 weeks.

Care to guess what Dallas’ receiving room looks like now?

Commanders fans will get a kick out of the current state of the Cowboys’ wide receiving corps.

Let’s make it clear that we’d never root for injury. We’re merely highlighting the positives of Washington missing time for the Cowboys.

Though he’s not a well-known commodity, the 26-year-old is more accomplished than any current healthy Dallas receiver sans Lamb. In four years with the Steelers (60 games), he compiled 114 catches for 1,629 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Not earth-shattering numbers, but Washington was expected to fill a key role for the Cowboys while Gallup puts the finishing touches on his rehab. Now, rookie third-rounder Jalen Tolbert is suddenly WR2, former seventh-round pick Noah Brown is WR3 and undrafted free agent Tyler Vasher is WR4.

The regular season starts next month and Lamb and Brown are currently the only healthy Cowboys WRs with NFL catches on their resume.

With Washington expected to be shelved for 6-10 weeks, that could knock him out for the Commanders’ Week 4 trip to Dallas. And if we learned anything about the Cowboys’ offseason thus far, it’s that they have no intention of bolstering their receiver room anytime soon.

They created this mess and might be too stubborn to admit they were wrong and get Prescott help before Week 1 … which would be hilarious given how many free agents and disgruntled wideouts are looking for a new home.

Nice work, Jerry Jones! Keep it coming.
