4 Commanders who should follow Tom Brady to broadcast booth
By Jerry Trotta
2. Bobby McCain
McCain caused a stir when he flamed the media for harping on the negatives of Washington’s performance last season. It happened early in the year, so it didn’t help McCain’s, a newcomer via free agency at the time, standing amongst fans. To his credit, though, he was rock-solid in the second half of the schedule and fully deserved re-upping his contract with the franchise this offseason.
The big takeaway from McCain’s 2021? He’s purely authentic when in front of the microphone. The veteran defensive back wasn’t afraid to chop it up with reporters, which suggests he’d be honest (harsh when he needs to be) in the booth. Whether it be team performance or poor refereeing, McCain seemingly wouldn’t hesitate calling it like it is, even if it meant disagreeing with his broadcast partner.
With so many former quarterbacks and offensive players entering the broadcast field post-retirement, it wouldn’t hurt getting another DB’s perspective. Five-time Pro Bowler Aqib Talib was a breath of fresh air working for FOX last season. Who’s to say McCain couldn’t have a similar impact?
