. EDGE. Washington Commanders. Sam Williams. 113. player. 58

Now, Washington takes command (wink-wink) and addresses the defensive side of the football. The Commanders do need some pass-rushing depth both on the interior and along the EDGE, so they’ll end up adding a fresh face at EDGE in a 261-pound defensive end that popped at the combine.

With a pass-rush win rate of 18.1% and a run stop rate that placed him around the 75th-percentile among all qualified EDGE defenders last season, Sam Williams out of Ole Miss is one of the better developmental EDGE prospects in this class.

What stuck out to me when watching Williams was his first-step explosion and his ability to win his pass-rushing reps despite not having much bend as a pass-rusher. Of course, there are things Williams must work on at the next level, particularly his ability to set the edge, but in general, he’s a high motor, a great all-around athlete that can win early on in his development as a pass-rusher.
