Washington Commanders fans are gearing up for the NFL Draft, and there’s real excitement surrounding what the team will do in the first round. Coming off a year in which they reached on linebacker Jamin Davis with the No. 19 overall pick, there’s palpable pressure to hit a home run in Round 1 this year.

With the Commanders’ free agency revolving around re-signing their own players and finding bargains, they’ll turn to the draft to secure talent at positions of need.

In no order, wide receiver, linebacker and cornerback should take precedence over other positions, though it wouldn’t hurt to see them take a running back, safety and an offensive lineman in the middle-to-late rounds.

That would be the dream. For now, though, let’s dive into a preview of the upcoming draft and get into the nuts and bolts of this year’s showcase.
