After news broke that the Washington Commanders traded for Carson Wentz, Washington fans and media members began to go crazy with hypothetical draft situations now that it looks like Washington is out of the quarterback running in the 2022 NFL Draft.

We will not have a quarterback going to the Nation’s Capitol in this mock draft, but we’ll definitely have the Commanders adding a few pieces to give their new signal-caller some much needed help on the perimeter and in the backfield.

Regardless of your stance on Carson Wentz and the potential long-term outlook of him on this roster going forward, the reality is this: Carson Wentz will likely be your starter this year and there is a real shot, if Washington sneaks into the playoffs, that Wentz will be a long-term piece going forward.

After eating his $28-million salary in the deal and giving up two third-round picks that could potentially parlay into a second if Wentz plays the bulk of snaps in 2023, it’s safe to say that Washington will be committed, or enough at least, to bring on top-tier talent to surround someone that *could* be their starter for the next few years.

With that said, let’s look into a mock draft that adds a plethora of rotational pieces around him, to make this offense as Carson Wentz-friendly as possible.
