2. Greg Ward

Ron Rivera and Martin Mayhew have expressed confidence — probably too much confidence — in the Commanders’ receiving corps. Whether or not that was posturing on their part, the group can stand to be upgraded.

As things stand, Cam Sims, Adam Humphries and DeAndre Carter, who combined to log 80 catches for 890 yards and five touchdowns last season, are all free agents. While Sims and Carter are candidates to get re-signed, NFL free agency is wildly unpredictable so you can’t guarantee their returns.

Enter Greg Ward, one of the few WRs with whom Wentz shared a strong chemistry in Philadelphia. In 2020, his second season in the league as an undrafted free agent, Ward led the Eagles in both catches (53) and receiving touchdowns (six). He also finished third on the team with 419 receiving yards.

While Wentz got benched after Week 12, most of Ward’s production came catching passes from Wentz. In fact, the Houston product managed just nine receptions for 68 yards and two TDs in four games with Jalen Hurts under center.

Bottom line is Wentz likes throwing Ward’s direction and he’d make for a nice pickup at a position that currently lacks any semblance of depth.
