Colin Cowherd’s Week 1 QB predictions are hilarious after latest moves

At long last, the Washington Commanders‘ quarterback search is over, and it comes just in the nick of time with free agency just days away.

On Wednesday, the Commanders and the Indianapolis Colts agreed to a trade that would send Carson Wentz to Washington. All it took was two third-round picks, though next year’s third could morph into a second if Wentz plays 70% of the snaps, which he’ll do with ease if he starts most of the games.

The Commanders’ sights were set on Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson. After an aggressive pursuit of the latter came up short, they zeroed in on Wentz, whom they prioritized over Deshaun Watson, Jimmy Garoppolo and Mitchell Trubisky.

For anyone who guessed Washington would end up with Wentz, congratulations. We’re not sure what you win (bragging rights among peers are always cool), but it’s an impressive prediction nonetheless.

Not everyone can say the same, though.

On a recent episode of “The Herd”, Fox Sports personality Colin Cowherd offered up his prediction for every QB-needy team’s Week 1 starter.

Here’s what Cowherd came up with. Warning: it’s worse than you think.

Colin Cowherd thought Teddy Bridgewater would be the Commanders’ starting QB for Week 1 of next season.

Well that’s definitely something!

In this scenario, Cowherd had Washington striking out on trading for all of Rodgers, Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson. While the jury is still out on where Watson ends up, or if he’ll even play in 2022, Cowherd was dead-on in his assessment in terms of having Washington whiffing on Rodgers and Wilson, the latter of who has since been traded to Denver in earth-shattering fashion.

Instead of pivoting to a Wentz or Jimmy G, who land with Denver and Tampa Bay in this exercise, Cowherd convinced himself Washington would sign another veteran stopgap in Teddy Bridgewater.

Could Cowherd’s predictions have gone any worse? The only thing he’s gotten right so far is Rodgers returning to Green Bay, which isn’t even saying a lot. Additionally, Wilson did NOT stay in Seattle and Wentz did NOT end up in Denver.

It remains to be seen where Bridgewater, Garoppolo and Mitchell Trubisky will end up, but all signs point to the latter reuniting with Brian Daboll on the Giants and competing with Daniel Jones for the starting job.

Further, why would the Colts be in a hurry to sign Trubisky after they just traded Wentz, who’s clearly the superior quarterback? Garoppolo to Tampa Bay is feasible, but he’s rumored to be a candidate for both Indianapolis and Pittsburgh.

We’d also be stunned if Taysom Hill was the Saints’ Week 1 starter. They’d be better off re-signing Jameis Winston, who led them to a 5-2 record while sporting a 102.8 passer rating before a torn ACL ended his season.

And speaking of Winston, did Cowherd just forget about him? He figures to be a hot commodity on the free agent market after his resurgent 2021.

We know forecasting the NFL offseason is virtually impossible, but Cowherd’s QB predictions couldn’t have been more leaky. At this juncture, just three of his 12 predictions (Rodgers, Jones and Baker Mayfield) are accurate.

Luckily for the Commanders, Cowherd’s Bridgewater prediction didn’t come to fruition.

Next. This three-team deal would net Commanders Russell Wilson. dark
