1. 49ers have most ties to Washington

What better reason to root for San Francisco, right? They have the most ties to Washington of any of the remaining four teams, and it’s not even close. Trent Williams’ name will stick out the most, as he spent nine years in Landover, making seven Pro Bowls over that span before he lost trust with the franchise.

Say what you will about Williams giving up on Washington, but we’re not holding a grudge against the future Hall of Famer for wanting out after the franchise misdiagnosed a growth on his head that proved to be rare form of cancer.

Williams is still a Washington legend in our eyes, and we’d love to see the 33-year-old superstar make his first Super Bowl.

Beyond Williams, though, the 49ers have Kyle Shanahan, who, as the fan base has been repeatedly reminded of the last few weeks, formerly served as Washington’s offensive coordinator from 2011 to 2013.

On a lesser scale, the likes of offensive lineman Tom Compton, cornerback Josh Norman and quarterback Nate Sudfield have all spent time in Washington.

But let’s not grasp at straws here. Williams alone is a big enough reason to root for San Francisco to win this battle of Los Angeles. He’s a pro’s pro and is finally part of an organization that knows how to win on the big stage. It’s too bad he couldn’t finish his career in Washington, but we’re loving watching him win.

For that reason, LET’S GO 49ERS.
