2. Cam Sims

In case you were wondering, no, we haven’t given up the good fight.

That, of course, being campaigning for Cam Sims to get more playing time. It looked like the Alabama product would be in for an increased role after he burst onto the scene in the 2020 Wild Card Game.

For reasons we’ll never understand, Sims went underused again in 2021. While he appeared in 14 games, he made just three starts and played 31% of the snaps. To put those numbers into perspective, Adam Humphries, DeAndre Carter and Dyami Brown all logged more snaps than Sims.

Speaking strictly in terms of playmaking ability, Sims deserved to be the No. 2 (No. 3 option at worst) in Washington’s offense this year. Instead, he was only ahead of seventh-rounder Dax Milne in the WR pecking order.

Simply put, Sims delivered seemingly every time his number was called. That included delivering maybe the highlight of Washington’s season when he hauled in a touchdown over Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs in Week 14.

We’re not sure what goes on in practice, but if team reporters are questioning Sims’ lack of playing time, it’s probably warranted.

With Humphries a free agent, Brown finishing his rookie year with 165 receiving yards and Curtis Samuel not proving he can stay healthy, Washington would be insane not to consider bringing Sims back on a team-friendly deal.

Give him a shot to be the WR3 or WR4. What’s the worst that could happen?
