For all intents and purposes, the Washington Football Team’s rollercoaster of a season ended with Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Though Washington is eliminated from playoff contention and has zilch to play for in the regular season finale vs the New York Giants, Ron Rivera came out on Monday and emphatically declared his desire to win the game.

The plan, according to Rivera, is for Taylor Heinicke to start under center and hopefully build a big enough cushion to get a closer look at first- and second-year players who otherwise haven’t played much this year.

That’s not to say Washington should take the 4-12 Giants lightly, but it feels like Rivera knows Joe Judge’s group is tailspinning and wants to send his players out on a high note after an adversity-filled campaign.

Let’s see if the odds agree with that logic.

Washington vs Giants Odds for Week 18

According to our friends at WynnBET, Washington opens as a 6.5-point favorite for Sunday’s finale. You can bet them to cover that spread at -110 odds (bet $110 to win $100). If you’d rather play it safe and bet Washington to win outright, WynnBET is current’y offering -300 odds on the moneyline, so bet $300 to win $100.

Given the state of these offenses, it’s not surprising the over/under for the game is set at 38.5 points. Both sides check in at -110 odds.

Washington vs Giants Prediction for Week 18

We know there’s no “gimme” games in the NFL, but if there was ever a time for Washington to stop the bleeding, it’s Sunday vs the Giants, who’ve lost five in a row and have been outscored by 92 points (!) during that stretch.

If you remember, Washington and New York engaged in one of the more eventful games of the season all the way back in Week 2 when Dustin Hopkins, after being given a second life on an offsides by Dexter Lawrence, drilled the game-winning field goal as time expired.

The game was full of highlights, including JD McKissic’s clutch long reception up the sidelines and Ricky Seals-Jones’ absurd touchdown grab in the back corner of the end zone with four minutes left in regulation.

These are obviously two different teams at this point in the year. Because of that, we fully expect Washington to win and do so comfortably. Look for Heinicke to piggyback off his strong showing vs the Eagles and the defense to suffocate a Giants offense that hasn’t scored more than 10 points in a month.

Washington 27, Giants 17.
