2. Kamren Curl

KAMREN CURL. That’s Kam with a K. You hear that Cam Newton? Might want to consider changing the spelling of your name.

In all seriousness, Curl is Washington’s best-tackling defensive back since we can remember, and that’s not an exaggeration. He was also rock-solid in coverage, conceding just 12 yards on four targets, per PFF.

The second-year safety was everywhere on Sunday, racking up eight tackles, including the biggest play of the game when he stopped Christian McCaffrey JUST short of the sticks on 4th and 3 with 3:02 left in regulation.

Curl was right up in McCaffrey’s grill, preventing any yards after the catch, which the Panthers RB excels at. In doing so, Curl displayed tremendous discipline to not commit a penalty. He trusted his instincts, which might be the best of any current Washington DB, and made a heck of a play.

Any time you lock down an all-world player like McCaffrey in man coverage, you get a gold star in our book.

Yes, Curl committed a facemask penalty, but he more than made up for it with a great game overall and coming through when it mattered most. Ladies and gentleman, you’re looking at the future of Washington’s secondary.
