3. The Reality Is, it’s Déjà vu for Heinicke.

Taylor Heinicke entered the playoff game against Tampa Bay in January hoping to play well enough to resurrect his hopes of having an NFL career. Those hopes were mostly dead before that game, but he played well enough to earn a two-year contract and the opportunity to win the backup job in Washington for this season.

Ironically, he enters another game against Tampa Bay this week needing to perform well enough  to keep his starting job. Based on Rivera’s recent comments about Kyle Allen, it would seem that starting Allen is a very real possibility in the near future, so if Heinicke wants to hold onto his job for the balance of the season, he’s going to have to play more like he did against Tampa Bay last year than he has in his last few starts.
