2. Curtis Samuel

You know a guy has barely played for a team when you search his name and there’s literally three options to choose from.

That, unfortunately, has been the case with Curtis Samuel, who inked a three-year, $34.5 million deal with Washington in free agency and was widely pegged as the best under-the-radar addition of the offseason.

The early stages of Samuel’s tenure in the nation’s capital have been a colossal letdown, and that’s making light of the situation, as be’s been hampered by a groin injury that sidelined him during training camp, the entire preseason, the first three games of the regular season as well as Weeks 6,7 and 8.

Samuel was coming off a season with the Panthers in which he set career-highs in catches (77), receiving yards (851), yards per target (8.8), carries (41), rushing yards (200) and rushing touchdowns (two).

At the time he was signed, most fans in Ashburn believed the franchise had found Terry McLaurin’s ideal sidekick. Instead, Washington is likely mulling whether they should bring Samuel back for the second half or just shut him down for the remainder of the season so the injury doesn’t require surgery.

Let’s hope that Samuel is fully healthy following the bye and is able to put his skills on display in the second half of 2021, because he offered absolutely nothing — well, four catches for 19 yards — in the first half of the schedule.
