Washington Football Team: Which WFT players should you consider taking in fantasy drafts?
By Jerry Trotta
Curtis Samuel
As most avid fantasy managers know, the WR position is extremely deep this year, and Curtis Samuel has fallen as low as the double-digit rounds as a result.
We know Samuel hasn’t been much of a factor thus far, but snagging a receiver of his caliber that late is incredible value. Don’t forget that Ron Rivera wanted to trade for Samuel last season, so he figures to be heavily involved in the offense.
Samuel enjoyed a breakout year in 2020, as he set career-highs in catches (77), receiving yards (851), and yards per target (8.8) despite being the third option in the passing game behind DJ Moore and Robby Anderson.
The Panthers also wisely utilized Samuel as a rusher more than they had in his previous three seasons, as he logged 41 carries for 200 yards and two TDs. Not many WRs available in the latter stages of fantasy drafts offer that kind of value.
You have to think Rivera will take a page out of Carolina’s playbook and create designed packages to get Samuel the ball in open space. Whether that’s straight out of the backfield or on sweeps, he’ll be a focal part of the offense.
