Good – Jordan Kunaszyk

Kunaszyk was credited with six solo tackles, and ten overall, against Baltimore. He has been a quality special teams player in his first two years in the league, but has not shown much as a defensive player. With Mayo’s struggles, Kunaszyk may have carved out one of the final spots on the roster for himself. I think his teams/’backer mate Jared Norris already has the fifth linebacker spot, so Kunaszyk’s future may depend on whether the team wants to keep a sixth player at that position. He certainly did nothing to hurt himself on Saturday.

BAD – Jaret Patterson

Jaret Patterson was bound to come back to earth a little bit. He had looked so good in his first couple of games – running, receiving, returning. He had no success against the Ravens and struggled to catch the ball. I doubt his poor performance was enough to lose his spot, but you never can tell. It certainly opened the door for the steadier Peyton Barber to make his case for being the third running back. Patterson has overcome the odds so far in his brief football career, so I expect he will bounce back from this.

GOOD – Antonio Gandy-Golden

GG finally showed some flashes of why he was a 4th round draft pick in 2020. He caught the ball well and showed some strength as a runner after the catch. His blocking has improved as well.

GG actually looked a lot like Cam Sims, one of the players he may be competing against for a roster spot. I don’t see the value in keeping both Sims and Gandy-Golden, but I suppose it is possible. If nothing else, GG at least made the decision a lot tougher.
