Defense

The most talented unit for the Washington Football Team is the defensive line and it is one of the best in the NFL. Two newcomers could also be in the mix for edge rusher/outside linebacker duties. Chase Young and Montez Sweat could be in line for a record breaking season.

Defensive Line

  • Starter:  Jonathan Allen
  • Starter:  Daron Payne
  • Starter:  Chase Young
  • Starter:  Montez Sweat
  • Matt Ioannidis
  • Tim Settle
  • James Smith-Williams
  • Shaka Toney (Edge/Outside Linebacker)
  • William Bradley-King (Edge/Outside Linebacker)

Washington’s defensive line makes other units better

Linebackers

  • Starter:  Jamin Davis
  • Starter:  Cole Holcomb
  • Starter:  Jon Bostic
  • Khaleke Hudson
  • David Mayo

First-round rookie Jamin Davis has garnered some attention for possible Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. He is slated to be the opening day middle linebacker.

The depth at LB is a little concerning, but the three projected starters are solid and they should be helped out by the play of the defensive line.
