The Washington Football Team only won seven games last season, but it was enough to win the division and that’s all that maters. It was their first NFC East crown since the 2015 season and just their second since way back in 2012.

While the division title was a great achievement given all their roster deficiencies, it goes without saying Ron Rivera will be striving to log a winning record this season. After all, Washington hasn’t finished above .500 since it finished 8-7-1 in 2016.

We know the Football Team took advantage of the injury to Dak Prescott — the Cowboys likely would’ve ran away with the division otherwise — but we can’t wrap our minds around why Rivera’s side isn’t favored to repeat as champs.

The latest odds from WynnBet give Washington +240 odds to win the NFC East, a distance second behind Prescott and Dallas, who come in at +135.

The Football Team should have better odds to win the NFC East.

We love the idea of Washington embracing the underdog mentality, but there comes a time where blatant disrespect has to be called out. After last season, in what universe should the Football Team have +105 worse odds than Dallas?

Even before Prescott went down, the Cowboys had to score over 30 points just to be in a position to win games because their defense was THAT bad.

The hiring of Dan Quinn as defensive coordinator should get things organized and the additions of Micah Parsons, Keanu Neal, Mailk Hooker and Jabril Cox give their secondary and LB room more depth, but let’s not put lipstick on a pig.

The Football Team, on the other hand, is fresh off finishing top five in both points and yards allowed per game last season.

With Landon Collins looking poised to return to stardom, the addition of William Jackson to line up opposite Kyle Fuller, and the projected developments of Chase Young and the rest of the DL, Washington’s defense only got stronger this offseason.

We wouldn’t dream of comparing the Football Team’s offense to that of the Cowboys’, who are littered with stars on that side of the ball.

However, anyone who thinks Washington’s offense is miles behind is delusional. They upgraded at quarterback in significant fashion by adding Ryan Fitzpatrick. He’ll help Terry McLaurin make the leap into the discussion of top-tier WRs.

Antonio Gibson is one of the most promising young running backs in the league, Logan Thomas is a certified playmaker at tight end, and Curtis Samuel, Dyami Brown and Adam Humphries give WFT excellent depth at receiver.

Sorry, but those are just the facts. We know the Football Team doesn’t have much room to brag given they finished 7-9 last season, but the fact they don’t have even or better odds than Dallas to take home the NFC East crown should only intensify what is undeniably one of the best rivalries in the sport.
