Washington Football: Fan’s epic facial hair puts Ryan Fitzpatrick’s beard to shame
By Jerry Trotta
The last several weeks have been stressful for fans of the Washington Football Team.
Is Ryan Fitzpatrick actually competing for the starting job? Who are some of the biggest names that won’t make the 53-man roster? What’s going on with Curtis Samuel? Who will emerge as the third receiver? These are just some unanswered questions that have been driving fans crazy.
Amid all this speculation — and following Washington’s preseason debut on Thursday night against the Patriots — let’s relax and show appreciation for all the WFT fans out there.
But not all of them! That would take too long. Instead, however, we simply must shower some praise on behalf of one Football Team fanatic.
You know how Fitzpatrick has arguably the freshest (and thickest) beard in the game? Well, we have a new contender for that award, because this fan’s facial hair is just perfect. In all its glory, we present the greatest beard in the history of the Washington franchise.

Ryan Fitzpatrick might consider shaving after looking at this fan’s facial hair.
This diehard fan clearly needs some updated team gear, but other than that, this is a perfect summation of what separates Washington fans from the rest of the league.
Can we talk about this guy’s pain threshold, too? We haven’t the first clue of what it takes to groom a beard that long, but surely styling it (does it qualify as braiding?) to spell HAIL was an uncomfortable experience. Regardless, it puts Fitzpatrick’s famed beard to shame.
The 38-year-old quarterback has repped it since we can remember and it’s appeal — along with his enigmatic personality, obviously — has really helped him become one of the most likable players in the NFL. However, he might consider shaving after looking at this piece of art.
How could he not? Unless … Fitzpatrick takes things a step further, grows his beard out longer than ever before and braids the the team’s initials “WFT” at the bottom of it. That would really turn things up a notch, though we highly doubt it would fit under his helmet.
Wow, indeed. In all seriousness, wasn’t it nice to step away from all the training camp and preseason drama and share a few laughs?
You better believe we’ll be expecting that same energy at FedEx Field this season. Washington’s intending its home stadium to be at fully capacity for the start of the 2021 campaign, which is massive news considering it was empty for most of last year amid the pandemic.
