4. Who will make the most of their extra opportunities due to players on the Covid list?

Sam Cosmi is getting tons of reps against Chase Young and Montez Sweat because of Cornelius Lucas being on the Covid list to start camp. By all accounts, the 2021 second-round pick is having a lot of “welcome to the NFL” moments….but if he uses these reps to get better, could that bode well for his opportunity to start this season?

Saahdiq Charles and Wes Martin, meanwhile, are getting more reps with Brandon Scherff out. Will one of them secure a roster spot as a result of that opportunity? Both would appear to be bubble players at the moment.

How about Devaroe Lawrence, who’s getting reps on the interior of the defensive line with Allen, Payne, and Ioannidis out?

What receiver ends up making the roster as a result of the extra reps they’re getting with Curtis Samuel sidelined? My money is on Steven Sims bouncing back from his horrible 2020.

It isn’t hurting any of those players to be getting reps with and against the first team. Who will seize the opportunity? Ron Rivera said Monday that vaccination status will not play into roster decisions. But extra training camp opportunities due to starters being on the reserve/COVID-19 list almost certainly will.
