The Washington Football Team

This is probably a very unpopular opinion but personally, I think the name “Washington Football Team” is great. It’s very simplistic and unique within the sport which is exactly what teams love when branding.

There has already been tons of merchandise made and that will continue to be made for the next season so they might as well keep it. It’s less of a hassle to keep the name as is than it would be to completely rebrand themselves. The colors stay the classic burgundy and gold that we all love and we get a little more stability from a fan’s standpoint in the name not changing again.

The announcement was made that a decision on the final name will be made. That doesn’t mean that the Football Team moniker is completely off the table. Had it had been said that it would change, that would be a different story.

Regardless of what the name ends up being, right now it’s just pure speculation. The name could change or it could stay the same. Whatever the name may be, fans need to remember that it’s the team itself you cheer for, not the logo or the name.
