Tier 4

The Tier 4 names mostly center on the political realm.  Washington is the nation’s capital and politics rule the region.  Two local sports teams (Capitals and Nationals) have adopted names that reflect the political realm on a grand level.  A similar name could be chosen by the Washington Football Team.

Senators – If the front office wishes to recapture a part of the past, it could choose a name that was once used by Washington’s major league baseball team.

Presidents – This name represents the highest office in the land.  Could the powers that be in Ashburn make such a bold and daring choice?

Monuments – Using one of Washington’s most iconic symbols in the nation’s skyline could be a popular choice, but it lacks an alliterative style and it feels very one-dimensional.

Americans, Federals, Colonials, other “minor” names – These three names and any others have no realistic chance.  All of them feel very unnatural and forced.  An unknown name from the Tier 4 group could emerge, but it is difficult to know if that name could gain any traction.

Current ranking in our estimation:

  • 1.  Monuments
  • 2.  Senators
  • 3.  Presidents
  • 4. Americans, Federals, Colonials, minor names

If any of these names fail to gain momentum in the coming weeks, they will not be the choice.
