An NFL analyst ranked the Washington Football Team roster amongst the league’s best.

Rejoice Washington Football Team fans, training camp is less than a month away. We will soon be covering camp standouts, position battles, surprise cuts, and whatever else thrown is our way from the Bon Secours Training Facility in Richmond, Virginia.

The time before camp provides a good opportunity to dive into some of the more interesting topics before real football begins. One of the more intriguing items for this writer is the standing of Washington’s roster.

While there are still areas for improvement, it is a roster that is trending up. Only time will tell us if a revitalized roster equates to sustained success on the field. The truth of the matter is, process matters, and Washington is building a team that looks to be competitive in 2021.

Admittedly, it’s hard to objectively judge the team’s standing at times. Therefore, it’s important to put aside the burgundy and gold glasses of eternal optimism to make a fair assessment. One of the ways to do this is by viewing the team from the lenses of those on the outside.

Recently, Pro Football Focus Analyst Ben Linsey put out an article ranking the rosters of all 32 NFL teams in 2021. He also evaluated strengths, weaknesses, and key players on each club’s roster. Where Washington ended up in the ranking was a surprise, to say the least.

Linsey ranked the Washington Football Team roster 12th overall, ahead of teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers (16), New Orleans Saints (17), and New England Patriots (18).

Washington has spent most of the Dan Snyder era swimming in the deep depths of mediocrity. Pittsburgh, New England, and New Orleans have accounted for nine Super Bowl victories in the same timeframe.

Even though this is just one analyst’s assessment, it signals that outsiders are beginning to recognize that Washington’s roster is seemingly on a path to catch up with some of the league’s best.
