One NFL analyst included Washington Football Team defender Chase Young on a list of the NFL’s top 25 players under 25 years of age.

Early in the Dan Snyder era, the central focus of roster construction for the Washington Football Team was flawed. Signing high-priced free agents to fill canyon-sized holes proved to be ineffective. This flawed philosophy led to draft picks being undervalued, and an improper development of young players.

The future of the organization was repeatedly put on hold in order to find a quick fix. A quick fix that was never to be found — the results of which led to years of mediocrity on the field. A real change was seemingly made when Snyder decided to hire head coach Ron Rivera.

A coach-centric management philosophy, led by Rivera, has put the proper focus back on drafting and developing young talent. Draft picks are now valued, and players are coached the right way. The Washington Football Team is building something special with its current crop of players.
