Will Curtis Samuel be a stud or a dud for the Washington Football Team in 2021?

The Washington Football Team is a team that fans of the NFL should all be looking out for in 2021. A ton of moves have been made and the team has been completely revamped and retooled. With several moves on offense happening during free agency and the NFL Draft, the team looks significantly better heading into 2021 than they did coming into the 2020 season.

While determining a “stud” or a “dud” for this season, it’s not a label of the player’s skill or ability. A “stud” is going to be a player who will most likely improve based off their previous season. A “dud” is a player that regresses or doesn’t see a significant jump in play or production.

The highlight of the WFT’s offseason was the signing of former Panthers gadget guy, Curtis Samuel. The offense looks very good now after all the moves and they are very close to being considered great. The youthfulness of the receiving corps is a huge part of the creation of their championship window. Pairing Samuel alongside Terry McLaurin and the other players in that wide receiver room will do wonders for the team.

Curtis Samuel has played the “Taysom Hill role” for the Carolina Panthers ever since he was drafted into the NFL. One of the more underrated receivers in the league, he’s been a man of many hats; rushing, receiving and special teams have made him a quality and highly sought after player. In his four seasons in Carolina, Samuel has recorded 185 catches, 2,087 receiving yards, 14 receiving touchdowns, 72 rushes, 478 rushing yards, and 5 rushing touchdowns.

Samuel should be an absolute stud for the Washington Football Team in 2021, as he has finally been put in a situation where he’s set up for success.

After reuniting with his former head coach, Ron Rivera, Samuel will be able to be used in ways that always keep the defense guessing. His quickness and lateral speed make him extremely valuable for trick plays, jet sweeps, and taking snaps out of the backfield, should he see time as a running back or a Wildcat quarterback.

Samuel is a perfect complement to Terry McLaurin and will allow Ryan Fitzpatrick to have a second quality receiver to throw to. Samuel might not have the greatest statistical season but his value will go beyond the numbers and spread the offense out.
