Round 7, Pick 206 – Missouri RB Tyler Badie

After neglecting to pick a running back in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Washington Football Team should at least glance at the position in 2022. J.D. McKissic might not be back next year, so Washington may need a versatile compliment to workhorse back Antonio Gibson.

Late in the draft, Missouri’s Tyler Badie has some appeal. Since 2018, the Tiger has been a solid complimentary threat in Missouri’s offense, with 245 carries for 1,136 yards and 9 touchdowns, as well as 72 catches for 819 yards and 7 touchdowns over that span.

Badie has the most receiving yards among returning FBS running backs, and with Larry Rountree making the leap to the NFL, there’s no one stopping the 5’9″, 200-pound back from potentially taking on an increased role in Eli Drinkwitz’s offense. Beyond his versatility, Badie is explosive, shifty, and has solid contact balance for his size. He’d be a valuable weapon in Turner’s offense.

But as a general disclaimer, we truly have no idea what’s going to happen this college football season. Come next January, the draft board may look very different. Nevertheless, this early look may help give you an idea of what to expect.
