The Washington Football Team has close ties with the military and many players over the years have served in the various branches.  Today, we remember them.

Before each game at FedEx Field, the National Anthem is played and members of the United States military are typically in uniform to present the nation’s colors and represent the USA in a dignified manner.  The flyovers are special.  The salutes are crisp.  The marching is precise.  The recognition from fans in attendance is genuine.

Current players for the Burgundy and Gold have parents and siblings who serve or have served in the military.  The bond that exists between Washington and the various branches is a relationship that spans many decades.  Also, there have been Washington Football Team players who have served in the military during peacetime and war.

Today, on this Memorial Day, we will tell you about former players who served and are no longer with us.  The words that are written and posted today will afford you the opportunity to know them and appreciate their service to the country.  We know them as players for Washington, but they also wore military uniforms during difficult times for the nation and the world.  They answered the call of duty, honor, and sacrifice and we honor them today.
