Washington Football Team 2022 mock draft: Trading up for a passer
Round 7
Tyler Allgeier, Running Back, Brigham Young
Tyler Allgeier wasn’t a scholarship player in 2018, but he did get a bit of playing time in his first season. In his second year, Allgeier played linebacker and sparingly as a running back. There was nothing to suggest that he would have a breakout season in 2020. The focus was on quarterback Zach Wilson (now with the Jets) and Dax Milne, the last player selected by the Washington Football Team in Round 7 earlier this month.
In 2020, Allgeier came out of nowhere to have an unexpected breakout season with more than 1,100 yards rushing and nearly 175 yards receiving. Will the magic continue in 2021? Don’t bet against him. He averaged more than 7.5 yards per carry in 2020 and has averaged close to 7.4 yards per rush for his career.
Running back could be a need in 2022. Antonio Gibson can’t do it alone and while the team added Jaret Patterson as an undrafted free agent a few weeks ago, he is unproven and very undersized. However, Allgeier will need to prove that 2020 was not a fluke.
