Round 6

O’Cyrus Torrence, Offensive Guard, Louisiana-Lafayette

The big, wide-bodied Torrence was not heavily recruited out of high school, but he did find his way to Lafayette and has made the most of his opportunity.  He is a bulldozer in run support and solid in pass protection.  If he has a breakout year in 2021, Torrence could be chosen much earlier than this round.  For now, he is a bit raw and is also rapidly improving.

Playing for Louisiana-Lafayette could hurt his standing against Power 5 counterparts, but that would be a mistake.  If Torrence is able to continue his development in 2021, leaving school a year early may not be a bad idea.  If the development is stymied for any reason, then he will need another year before entering the league.

Brandon Scherff is likely to be with another team in 2022 and adding inside offensive lineman must be considered.  The current talent and depth at guard for the Washington Football Team is solid, but the front office should add more linemen in the draft next spring.
