Round 4

Jack Sanborn, Inside Linebacker, Wisconsin

In the summer of 2018, Jack Sanborn arrived in Madison as a somewhat slender inside linebacker and now he is going to enter his senior season as a prototypical-sized player with experience.  Sanborn has steadily improved since his freshman season when his sole talent was being a solid contributor as a pass defender.  He has developed into an all-around athlete that is comfortable as a pass and run defender.

Sanborn chose to return for his senior season and it would’ve been a mistake for him to leave after his junior season.  He will need a year to adjust to life in the NFL, but Sanborn has a very good work ethic.  He has a knack for improving and building on his abilities each year.  Jon Bostic would probably be signed for another year and would serve as an excellent mentor for Sanborn.

Look for Sanborn’s skills as a pass defender to be put on display in 2021.  Pass catchers roaming over the middle will have difficulties against him.  He has a knack for interceptions and pass deflections and this could afford Sanborn a chance to see action on passing downs in his first season in the NFL.
