Washington Football Team Mock Draft: Will pick, should pick, dark horse
2021 Washington Football Team Mock Draft: Round 2, Pick 51
Will Pick: LB Jabril Cox, LSU
Cox was very productive in his one year at LSU after a fruitful career at North Dakota State. The 6-foot-4, 231-pound linebacker produced 58 tackles, three interceptions, one sack, five pass defenses, and 6.5 tackles for loss for the Tigers and performed very well during draft season.
Cox would fill a big need for Washington and would give them a nice one-two punch at linebacker with Cole Holcomb. The youth and athletic ability of the two could become an asset for Washington’s defense in short order.

Should Pick: OT Liam Eichenberg, Notre Dame
Cox is a fine selection, but would a duo of Vera-Tucker and Cox or Davis and Eichenberg be better? It’s at least a conversation worth having. Eichenberg is the latest in the line of Notre Dame tackles to enter the league and he is a strong, steady blocker with good tape.
Eichenberg is not a top-tier athlete, but he has a 6-foot-6 frame and good length. He is a safe pick to find success at the next level and should be a good starting tackle on either the left or right side. Consider him an option for Washington if they go linebacker in Round 1.
Dark Horse: QB Davis Mills, Stanford
Mills is somewhat of an unknown commodity. He has played in just 14 college games, but he has impressed teams during the lead-up to the 2021 NFL Draft. Mills is raw, but Washington does like him and he has the tools needed athletically and as a thrower to develop into an NFL starter.
So, why is he a dark horse here? This feels just a bit early for him. Even with quarterbacks rising, the durability concerns that exist with Mills could keep him out of the second frame. But don’t be surprised if a team like Washington is willing to reach a bit for him…
