The Washington Football Team is just days away from adding several new players to the roster through the 2021 NFL Draft.  There will be boom and bust prospects, but it will take time to sort out the best and the rest.

When the year 2020 arrived more than a year ago, the champagne was flowing and a new year began with celebrations around the world.  It was also a new era for the Washington Football Team as they were ready to embark with a new head coach and a lot of hope.

The 2020 off-season was filled with promise when free agency began and unheralded players such as Logan Thomas, J.D. McKissic, and Cornelius Lucas signed with the team.  Blue-chip cornerback Kendall Fuller returned to the fold after spending two years with the Chiefs and the rebuild was officially underway.

Welcome to the second part of our two-part series that focuses on the potential boom and bust prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft.  After looking at some of the bust possibilities, we now turn our attention to the “boom” prospects – players that we think could have a great career in the league.  If Washington wants to build on the success of their NFC East title run of 2020, they will need to have another good draft.

The 2020 NFL Draft was deemed to be a success with the addition of mega-star Chase Young and young studs like Antonio Gibson, Saahdiq Charles, and Kamren Curl.  With another solid draft in 2021, the Burgundy and Gold could be well on their way to many winning seasons and possible championships.  Rebuilds are never easy or fun to experience, but there are many positives for Washington to expand on for the future.

As we did with part one of this short series, we’ll take a round by round look at players that are most likely to have a positive impact in NFL.  Boom prospects are difficult to predict, especially in the later rounds.  This draft is widely considered to be one of the deepest ever and the Washington Football Team should have plenty of chances to improve their roster.  Once again, let’s cast our eyes on the Riggo’s Rag crystal ball and see what yours truly thinks about the boom prospects this year.
