This pick also seems like it’s locked in at this point. Perhaps the Jets will have a last-minute change of heart, but every indication is that they’re going with Zach Wilson at this point.

It’s easy to see why. Wilson has a cannon of an arm and was a big-time playmaker for BYU this season. He helped turn them into a top-20 team in the country thanks to his electric downfield passing and excellent mobility.

Last season, Wilson posted 3,692 passing yards, 33 touchdowns, and just three interceptions on a ridiculous 73.5 percent completion rate. And as a runner, Wilson was able to rack up 10 touchdowns on 70 attempts, demonstrating a knack for timely scrambling.

Wilson made countless off-script plays that showcase his upside. When plays break down, Wilson was still largely able to turn them into positive gains for BYU. If he can do that at the next level, he could give the Jets a dimension that they have long needed at the quarterback spot.

With Wilson throwing to Denzel Mims, Corey Davis, and Jamison Crowder, the Jets’ passing offense could finally click. Again, maybe the Jets will change their mind last minute and go with Justin Fields here, but that seems highly unlikely.

Expect to see Wilson in the Big Apple next season.
