54. . Wide Receiver. Philadelphia Eagles. Jaylen Waddle. 12. player

Last year, the Eagles selected a smaller, faster received named Jalen in the first round. That didn’t work out too well, as Jalen Reagor was viewed as a reach and was taken one pick before Justin Jefferson. Reagor largely struggled during his first season while battling a thumb injury.

Because of Reagor’s issues and the departures of DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery, the Eagles need to add some more receiver talent. Luckily for them, there’s another Jaylen on the board this year in Jaylen Waddle.

Waddle is a fast, dynamic Alabama receiver that has the potential to be a top playmaker at the next level. His speed was evident during his time with the Crimson Tide, but he’s not just a speed player.

Waddle is a good route runner and showed remarkable toughness last year trying to play in the national title game despite nursing an ankle injury that was supposed to knock him out for the season. That certainly gave him a stock up.

Last season, Waddle played in just six games and averaged a career-high 21.1 yards per catch. He had 28 catches for 591 yards and four touchdowns before suffering the ankle injury. He will be 100 percent before the 2021 season and he should give Jalen Hurts a true No. 1 receiver to throw to.

The Eagles will gladly take any receiver on the board here. Since Waddle’s what’s left, he makes the most sense. Philly’s pick will mark the end of four consecutive Alabama picks in this mock, and that’s something that could very well happen on draft day, depending on where Mac Jones goes.
