8. Chicago Bears (via CAR): Alabama QB Mac Jones

If Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy don’t right the ship in 2021, they’re probably gone. That only increases their incentive to trade up for a presumptive franchise quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft. Mac Jones is my least favorite of the five top quarterbacks, but rolling the dice on him is admittedly better than rolling with Andy Dalton — the Bears front office equivalent of going out without a bang.

The Bears will need to solidify their offensive line and add more weapons, but Jones can deliver for Chicago. He’s a poised quarterback with very good pocket navigation skills, and he’s also a fairly smart player. I don’t think he’s elite in any category, but in the right situation, he can put up big numbers.

It seems likely that a quarterback falls to this point. If that quarterback is Justin Fields or Trey Lance, the Washington Football Team should make a call to move up. The Washington Football Team must be aggressive if the picks line up the way they need to.
