2021 3-round NFL mock draft: Washington Football Team adds a QB
By Ian Cummings
4. Atlanta Falcons: North Dakota State QB Trey Lance
There have been reports that the Falcons’ brass is split on what to do at No. 4 overall. Those reports state that general manager Terry Fontenot wants to take a quarterback, given that Matt Ryan is nearing his final years. Head coach Arthur Smith, however, might have some withstanding belief in Ryan.
What the Falcons do ultimately depends on how they resolve that philosophical discrepancy. Having said that, picking at No. 4 overall in a strong quarterback class is a privilege they might not have next year, or the year after. Couple in the availability of Trey Lance, who rivals Fields and Lawrence for having the highest upside in this class, and it’s a relatively easy decision.
Lance is a quarterback I could see the Washington Football Team trade up for, and he’s worth it. He’s not as much of a project as advertised, and he has the athleticism and arm strength to withstand adversity early on.
